Meet Dr. Iain Allan
Dr. Iain Allan has been practicing orthodontics in Kelowna since 1984. Trained as a general dentist at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, he moved to Canada in 1977. He practiced as a family dentist first in Prince Rupert and then in Williams Lake. His fascination with orthodontics drew him back to school for specialty training at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland.
Iain enjoys treating a wide range of patients, including children, adults, cleft palate and cranio-facial patients, and complex orthodontic/surgery patients.
He is a believer in lifelong learning, and to that end, he is an active member of the E. H. Angle Society and the Pacific Coast Orthodontic Society, serving as a PCSO Board member for four years. He is also a member of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and has served as Chief Examiner for Orthodontics.
Locally, he has been active as president of the Kelowna Dental Society, the Thompson Okanagan Dental Society, and the BC Society of Orthodontists. He fosters strong relationships within the dental community and creates opportunities for collaboration and professional growth. He is a Rotarian and has a special interest in Rotaplast, a team of Rotary International volunteers who offer treatment for cleft palate children and adults in third world countries. He has been part of a team on two missions, one to the Philippines and another to Ethiopia.
In his spare time, Iain enjoys sailing, golfing, skiing and traveling, but his greatest joys are his family, his friends, and practicing orthodontics.
